Hunters who plan to bring horses into Idaho or take them to other states should check first with their state veterinarians because vesicular stomatitis has been reported in Idaho and states east of Idaho. One case of this disease, which affects horses as well as cattle and big game animals, has been reported in Idaho. Other states may have already passed rules barring or increasing health certificate requirements for Idaho horses entering other states, or could restrict owners from taking horses home once they have been in Idaho. Rules may differ by state, so hunters need to check with authorities in their individual states. |
