Hunting Memories

X7A Wallhanger

I wanted to share this picture of a buck I shot during the 2004 California deer season. I was lucky enough to draw a tag for X7A, and harvest this nice 26.5-inch 4x4. I scouted the area three times before opening day and saw 7 legal bucks on my scouting trips. All the bucks were seen on public land.

I shot this buck at 75 yards with a Winchester .270 and a hand-loaded 130-grain Nosler Ballistic Silvertip. I hiked a mile in the dark on opening morning, and had this deer on the ground by 6:50 a.m.

I also attached a picture of a buck that I scouted the previous weekend.

Thanks for all your hard work on this website.
