The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission on April 15th approved a measure reinstating hunting preference points lost by Oregon residents whose active military service commitments prohibit them from participating in or applying for controlled hunts. The Commission's action requires active members of the U.S. Military, reserves or Coast Guard, or family members of active service personnel, to apply for reinstatement of lost preference points. The measure also requires documentation from a serviceperson's supervising officer, confirming that active duty obligations resulted in lost hunter preference points. The move will go into effect by next week. The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission is the policy-making body for fish and wildlife issues in the state. The seven-member panel meets monthly. The next regular Commission meeting is May 13 in Prineville. |
