Opening Day Gobbler |
||||||||||||||
I was lucky on the California spring turkey opener. The birds gobbled from the roost but didn't gobble much after that. They were not on our property but just over the fence. The birds must have seen me, which in this case was good, because one gobbler flew out of the roost and over on our side of the fence and was separated from the rest of the birds. I moved and reset up, then was able to call him in. He came in very silent and didn't gobble until he saw my decoys. He was a nice bird, 20 pounds,1-inch spurs but only had an 8-inch beard.
