Toward the end of the California spring turkey season last year we learned about a new turkey hunting opportunity which we told our readers about. Well, with the California spring turkey season starting on March 26th, we thought some of our new readers might be interested in this unique place to hunt turkeys. The opportunity is in Angels Camp, California. When you rent the home at the GreenStone Ranch for its minimum of two days, you can have access to hunt turkeys on the ranch's 1,300 acres during the time of your rental. Hunting is not allowed unless are you are renting the home. The home was built in 1912 and will sleep six. It has modern bathrooms and other facilities. Rent is $400 a night. The home is literally just over the hill from Angels Camp. While you are out hunting those gobblers, your family can be enjoying activities in Angels Camp or in nearby Murphys. After your hunt is finished for the day, why not take the family out to dinner in Angels Camp or Murphys? (Wife's note: I visited this home and its gorgeous gardens, and wanted to move right in. I LOVED the house, the furnished veranda overlooking the above garden, the furnishings, the dishes... the works! I can tell you, you won't have a wife balking at accompanying you on this trip once she's seen the place. I've even told Jerry that I'll gladly do all the cooking, just to get there. We're just trying to get our children to agree on a weekend and turkey hunting isn't even a concern of mine! They've even had weddings in the garden, too!) The home can be rented on the weekends or during the week or both. Last year one of our readers rented the home for a weekend and collected a nice gobbler and for a bonus, a coyote. There is a limit of one gobbler per hunter per stay. How the turkey hunting will be this year we can't say for sure but we do know there are turkeys around.
