Federal regulation allows only 107 days of hunting for any species by any method. The regulations originally adopted for the Southern San Joaquin Valley zone total 109 days: 22 days in the first part of duck season, 13 days of goose hunting when duck seasons are closed, 72 days of combined duck and goose hunting, and 2 youth hunt days, equaling 109 days. The agreed fix for this error has been to delay the opener (shorten the split) to October 23. The final regulations for the zone are: SOUTHERN SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY ZONE Seasons: Ducks (except pintails and canvasbacks): 93-Day Split Season October 23, 2004 through November 13, 2004 and November 20, 2004 through January 30, 2005 Pintails: 60-Day Split Season October 23, 2004 through October 31, 2004 and December 11, 2004 through January 30, 2005 Canvasback: 60-Day Straight Season December 2, 2004 through January 30, 2005 Geese: 93-Day Straight Season October 30, 2004 through January 30, 2005 Special Youth Hunt Days: February 5 and 6, 2005 Limits: Ducks: Daily bag limit: 7.
