Help Needed in Elk Poaching
The Arizona Game and Fish Department is seeking information that leads to the arrest of the individual responsible for the recent killing of a bull elk near Vernon in the White Mountains.

Bruce Sitko, information officer in the department's Pinetop office, says, “The poaching happened on either the evening of February 8 or early morning of February 9. The 6x6 bull was killed adjacent to U.S. Highway 60, three miles east of the junction with State Highway 61.” The bull, scoring approximately 320 points, was left intact in the field.

"Department officers are conducting interviews with homeowners in the area,” Sitko says, “but it would be a significant help if a responsible citizen could step forward with information regarding this crime."

To report information on this, or any, Game and Fish violation, call the department’s Operation Game Thief hotline at 800-352-0700.
