Public Access to Private Lands
California Assembly Bill 396 — legislation which would facilitate the creation of a "public access to private lands" program in California, and encourage private landowners to voluntarily open their properties to the public for hunting and other wildlife-related activities — passed out of the Senate Appropriations Committee on a 10 to 1 vote on August 29th. The bill is now on the Senate Floor, and will be brought up for a vote the week of September 1. Next stop is the Governor's desk!!!

Authored by Assemblyman Tom Harman (R-Huntington Beach), AB 396 would authorize the establishment of the Shared Habitat Alliance for Recreational Enhancement (SHARE) Program, a program designed to provide significantly enhanced hunting and fishing opportunities in California. The bill is co-sponsored by the California Waterfowl Association (CWA), the California Farm Bureau and the California Cattlemen's Association.
