Here are just some of the proposals the Wyoming Game & Fish Commission is considering while holding public meetings across the state this June.
Establishing an elk management $10 hunting permit for hunters in feedground areas of western Wyoming (hunt areas 70-72 and 74-98). The permit would be stamp-sized so it could be placed on the back of an elk license. Increasing nonresident cow/calf elk license to $200 and the youth license to $100. Mountain lion quotas would be increased to seven in Area 1 in the Black Hills, to 25 in Area 15 between Buffalo and Casper, and decreased to 12 in Area 26 in Greys River/Star Valley. Establishing a female mountain lion mortality quota of three in Area 12 south of Rock Springs, reducing the female quota to seven in Area 26 and closing the season in Area 21 on March 31. Establishing regulations which would enable the agency to accept Internet applications in the future. Issuing refunds if the big game license holders sibling dies. Establishing criteria for refunds or carryover license in case of natural disaster, such as fires closing access to hunt areas. Guaranteeing applicants are issued a moose or bighorn sheep preference point if the application is postmarked at least seven calendar days prior to the application deadline. Any hunters whose moose or bighorn sheep license application was postmarked at least seven days prior to the deadline, but arrives at the G&Fs Cheyenne office after the deadline, will be treated the same as an unsuccessful application, and preference points will be issued. |
