During their February 9, 2002 meeting in Las Vegas, the commissioners of the Nevada Board of Wildlife voted to increase the cost of deer tags from $20 to $25. The increase goes into effect this spring when hunters apply for their 2002 tags.
The increase is estimated to generate slightly more thean $100,000 in additional revenue this year for the Nevada Division of Wildlife and will be used to support increased cost of wildlife management programs statewide. Deer tag fees were last increased in 1990 when the fee went from $15 to $20. "This is a way to continue the programs that we have now," said Terry Crawforth, administrator for the Nevada Division of Wildlife. "We have one of the best big game programs in the country and we need the resources to continue that." |
