| Grab the black powder flask and your coonskin cap — the Western National Shoot for the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association is February 20-25 at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility just north of Phoenix, Arizona. The Ben Avery Shooting Facility is located on Carefree Highway just west of Interstate 17. This event is a crowd pleaser. Contestants often dress in period clothes. There is also a Traders Row to visit.

Competitive events include hawk and knife; pistol; bench rest; offhand; X-sticks; silhouette; chunk gun; running boar; trap and skeet; and sporting clays.
