Private Duck Club Hunting Opportunity

Many private hunting clubs, in both the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys, will be offering free youth waterfowl hunts. Internet or postcard applications to hunt these private areas will be accepted through January 9. See the DFG web page at http://www.dfg.ca.gov/junior/index.html for more information.

Not comfortable with the Internet? Mail in a postcard with the name, address, phone number, and hunting license number of no more than two junior hunters.

To hunt, juniors must have completed a Hunter Education course and possess a valid California Junior Hunting License. They are not required to have state or federal duck stamps. When hunting, a non-shooting adult age 18 or older must accompany them. Applications for either the special private duck club hunts or the state-run wildlife area and refuge hunts must be received by January 9, 2002, so apply now. The Northeastern California zone will not be open to hunting during the Junior Waterfowl Hunt Day.
