Question:
How can I find out if the elk season is being extended?
Answer:
Season extensions for specific hunt areas do occur, however such extensions are very, very infrequent. In the rare event an extension is enacted, the G&F will issue news releases and post the information on its web site. Extensions usually occur in response to a high population and a low harvest that may result in damage later to winter range or private hay. Extensions are also almost always for antlerless elk only. Just because the harvest in an area is less than desired does not mean the season will be extended. Seasons in the vast majority of areas never have extensions. |
