Question:
I notice from your leftover antelope and deer tag list that most of the areas with licenses remaining are private land. Why is that?
Answer:
Many private land deer and antelope areas start out with much larger license quotas than do public land areas. In addition, the application demand for public land areas is greater, because many hunters do not want to have to worry about obtaining permission or possibly paying a trespass fee to hunt. These factors combine for more difficult drawing odds on public land areas, hence public land has few leftovers. If you want to hunt public land, you shouldn't count on getting a leftover license. You will need to get your application in for the initial drawing. |
