Youth Outdoor Safari Day |

Here is an event for our Southern California readers
Bring your kids, neighbors' kids and friends' kids out to have a great time. This event introduces many outdoor activities to youth in a fun, educational and responsible way. The Orange County and Los Angeles Chapters of Safari Club International have teamed up to host the 3rd Annual Youth Outdoor Safari Day. The event is free for kids and has plenty of things for them to do. Kids can shoot BB guns, archery equipment, .22 rifles, pistols, shotguns, practice casting for fish, make turkey and quail calls, paint decoys, kayak, see the nature walk, and enjoy demonstrations including dog handling and ones by cowboys and mountain men. If that is not enough, they are fed too! At the end of the event, loads of prizes will be given away. One of the special things to see is the Mobil Sensory Safari Van. This program, first developed for blind children, was taken the next step by the Orange County SCI chapter. Mounted animals were put into a moving van donated by United Van Lines/S&M Moving Systems and now can be taken to schools and special events. The two chapters are proud to now have the additional support of all the Southern California SCI chapters Los Angeles, San Diego, Coastal Range, and Orange County. The date for the Youth Outdoor Safari Day is July 21, 2001 and will be held at Raahauge's Shooting Sports facility in Norco, California.
