Lake Mendocino Turkey Hunts
A series of two junior and nine general wild turkey hunts, by permit only, are scheduled to begin March 25, 2000 at Lake Mendocino, east of Ukiah. The
U. S. Army Corps of Engineers is providing this hunting opportunity in cooperation with the California Department of Fish and Game. The hunt area is open to the public but other Corps activities may occur during the hunt period. If unanticipated Corps activities interrupt a hunt, the hunt cannot be rescheduled.

Access to the hunting area is by boat only. There is a boat-in camp area within the hunt area. No vehicles, horses, or hike-in hunting will be allowed. Hunters
shall use shotguns or archery only. Six hunters will be drawn for each hunt.

Junior Hunts
Hunt dates are Saturday, March 25 and Saturday, April 15. Junior hunts are provided to introduce youth hunters to quality hunting experiences. Junior hunters must possess a junior hunting license and be accompanied by a adult over 18 years of age who possesses a California hunting license. The adult chaperon may hunt with the junior hunter, or two junior hunters may hunt together on one application. No more than two hunters may apply on one application.

General Hunts
Hunt dates are the remaining Saturdays and Wednesdays during the spring wild turkey season. They are March 29, April 1, 5, 8, 12, 19, 22, 26 and 29.

Drawing
The general hunts and drawings are open to anyone with a California hunting license and upland game bird stamp. All applications must be received by Thursday, March 2, 2000, for a drawing on Friday, March 3, 2000. Applicants will be notified by mail with a use permit and area map.

Applications
Each hunter may apply for one hunt date only. Submit a standard Postal Service size post card (one or two hunters per card) with name, mailing address, telephone number, hunting license number, boat registration number (CF number) or description of boat if exempt from registration (e.g., 15-foot Coleman canoe), and the one date of choice.
