Wild turkey hunts for the opening weekend of the spring wild turkey season at California's Cache Creek Wildlife Area (DFG) and Cache Creek Management Area (BLM) on March 25 and March 26, 2000 will be by permit only, with permits issued by special drawings. Hunting by permit only on the opening weekend was initiated last year to reduce the high numbers of hunters on the first two days of the season.

Applicants drawn for the east area can park at the parking lots at the Judge Davis trailhead just west of the Lake-Colusa County line or at Lynch Canyon in Colusa County. Applicants drawn for the west area must park at the North Fork of Cache Creek parking lot. Fifteen permits will be issued for the east area and twenty- five permits will be issued for the west area. Method of Take Drawing Applications Any applications received not following these guidelines will be disqualified from the drawing. Mail to: DFG, Cache Creek Spring Turkey Hunt, P. O. Box 47, Yountville, CA 94599. Successful applicants will be issued a permit by mail. Additional information and a map of the hunt area will be included. |
