The California Department of Fish and Game (DFG), through its Game Bird Heritage Program and the National Wild Turkey Federation, is offering a free wild turkey hunting seminar. This special event will be held on Friday, March 3, 2000, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Fresno County Sportsmen's Club, 10645 North Lanes Road, Fresno.
This event is tailored for both the novice and experienced turkey hunter. A slide show, calling techniques and hunting tactics will be presented by Larry D. Jones of Wilderness Sound Productions. Mr. Jones is a well-known outdoor videographer and hunter who resides in Springfield, Oregon. In addition, the DFG wild turkey biologist, Scott Gardner, will be on hand to discuss the DFG's wild turkey translocation program, hunting opportunities, and answer questions about wild turkeys in California. Virtually every aspect of turkey hunting will be covered, including where to locate the birds, where to hunt them on public lands, calling, turkey habits, camouflage and the use of shotguns and archery equipment. A local taxidermist will explain how to take care of your trophy in the field. Free turkey patterning targets, door prizes and a special turkey hunting shotgun, donated by the National Wild Turkey Federation, will be raffled off. For additional information, please call the Department's Game Bird Heritage Program at (559) 2434005, extension 132 or 133. The Game Bird Heritage Program, the National Wild Turkey Federation and the Fresno County Sportsmen's Club are pleased to offer this special event to you. |
