Mountain Lions
Keep Game Wardens Busy

Last fall, wardens continued to utilize a significant amount of patrol time responding to and investigating reports of mountain lion public safety threats and depredation complaints.

Wardens and agents from Wildlife Services responded to Bass Lake when a mountain lion killed two pigmy goats. Dry weather made it extremely difficult to track the lion with hounds. Agents with Wildlife Services tied one of the dead goats to a tree which attracted a 125-pound male mountain lion to the scene. The offending lion was taken that evening, which made Bass Lake Elementary School kids and their parents feel a bit safer.
